Statewide Health Accelerator Program Focuses on Mobility

This month iVEDiX was accepted into the New York Digital Health Accelerator (NYDHA) program – a competitive growth program run by the New York eHealth Collaborative and the Partnership Fund for New York City. In an effort to expand the programs’ reach upstate, NYDHA considered over 100 applications from growth-stage digital health companies. Each companies was evaluated by their innovation and ability to accommodate the care coordination, patient engagement, and workflow improvement currently needed by the Healthcare community.

The accelerator program develops tech companies from within this community, and this year specifically focused on mhealth solutions like: dietary planning tools, mobile patient care apps, data visualization platforms, and administrative reporting solutions. NYDHA is best know for the rapid acquisition of their graduate companies, in addition to offering portfolio companies:

• Direct mentorship by twenty-three leading healthcare organizations, including insurance companies, medical centers, and hospital groups
• Development of their technologies and business strategies through a series of workshops, panel discussions, user-group sessions, networking opportunities, one-on-one meetings, and presentations
• Investing an average of $100,000 in capital provided by Baxter Ventures, Deerfield Management Company, Milestone Venture Partners, New Leaf Venture Partners, Safeguard Scientifics and the Partnership Fund for New York City.

“NYDHA serves as an engine of innovation helping to provide the new tools and solutions healthcare professionals need to deliver better patient outcomes, reduce costs, and thrive in this new era of healthcare… the program offers the entrepreneurs access to potential customers and the opportunity to pilot their innovations at New York State’s leading health systems,” said New York eHealth Collaborative Executive Director David Whitlinger.

Since the accelerator first launched, 15 startups have been through the program and have raised over $65 million in additional capital, cites MobiHealthNews. These startups also created approximately 120 new jobs in New York City. As the program extends they hope to share this success with the rest of the state and country. While in the program iVEDiX will be joining NYDHA at several events from Rochester to Washington D.C., and Buffalo to Silicon Valley.
